A sewer scope involves inspecting your home’s main drain line from underneath the house to the city connection using a camera. By inserting a camera into your drain line, we can detect any issues such as bellies, broken pipes, offsets, root intrusions, obstructions, or outdated materials.
While it’s advisable to inspect every house, we particularly recommend sewer scopes in the following situations:
-
Properties built before 1970 may have outdated materials like cast iron, which are prone to deterioration over time. These older systems are more susceptible to damage and wear, potentially leading to significant plumbing issues.
-
During the construction phase, clean-outs are often left uncovered, allowing construction debris to enter the drain line. This debris can cause blockages or other problems in your new home’s plumbing system.
-
Large trees with extensive root systems can pose a threat to your drain lines, especially those located in the front yard. Roots can infiltrate and damage the pipes, leading to costly repairs if not addressed early.
-
Homes that have undergone foundation repairs may have compromised plumbing systems. The process of stabilizing or lifting the foundation can stress or damage the drain lines beneath the house.
